Viking Earrings

Viking earrings were much less common than other types of Viking jewelry and weren’t thought to have been worn in the early Viking periods. Not because the Vikings were unfond of this kind of jewelry but because they were unfamiliar with it. As they explored new territory and met new people, they learned about earrings, started crafting their own Viking-style earrings, and eventually incorporated these Norse earrings into their daily wear. The Nordic earrings that have been found are intricate and would have been worn over the entire ear rather than via a piercing through the lobe.
