Hi Katelynn, thank you for taking time to review your purchase and we are sorry that you are not happy with your ring.
First of all please be assured that your ring is made from genuine 925 silver. If you have the slightest doubt about the authenticity of the silver, we kindly request that you take the ring to a qualified jeweler who will confirm this.
The fact that your finger turns green does not mean in any way that the ring is not made of silver. We have a lot of experience with the “green/black-finger effect” as this issue does arise once in a while for some customers. You can find plenty of information on this if you search on Google. Doing this will further help you to confirm that the green/black finger does NOT mean that the item is not silver.
The main reason for this is usually that the ring is tarnishing naturally or as a result of contact with other substances. Please understand that silver like all precious metals needs special treatment. Genuine 925 silver tarnishes by nature and this can cause the green/black finger effect. The tarnishing can happen slowly and gradually or it can dramatically accelerate if the ring comes into contact with chemical substances such as hand creams/sprays/perfumes etc or even water. The tarnish itself is not permanent and you can use a 'silver polish' cloth (not liquid polish) to quickly bring the ring back again to its original condition. If you do this, please avoid getting polish into any dark areas of the ring. These have been oxidized (blackened) on purpose to make the design stand out from the background and this cannot be darkened again if it is polished. The easiest way to do this is to place the polishing cloth on a hard surface like a table and gently run the top of the ring over the cloth so only the surface comes into contact.
Also please understand that not all silver on the market is the same. You might have purchased other silver items in the past that do not cause your finger to go green/black but many silver items are plated with another metal (usually rhodium) to prevent tarnishing and as such they do not cause the green/black finger effect. This ring is 100% silver and has no such plating (the silver is oxidized in some parts of the ring to darken it for design enhancement).
I hope this has put your mind at rest. The ring is definitely 925 silver but please take it to an independent jeweler if you are in any doubt.
